Be With Ned: Ned Doheny Live in March 2015 – His first ever solo performances in the UK and Europe
Be With Records say: ‘This tour is something we are immensely proud to be organising for Ned. He wants an adventure and it’s no less than this great songwriter deserves
We officially licensed Ned’s sought-after blue-eyed soul gem ‘Hard Candy’ for vinyl reissue in September and it quickly sold out. Demand for Ned’s music is so strong that a repress was ordered and we’ve just announced the reissue of his follow-up; the classic ‘Prone’ will be out in April 2015.
We got talking to Ned himself over a series of calls between North London and the famed Doheny ranch in Southern California. We asked him when he last toured this side of the Atlantic. ‘Never’ was his abrupt answer. We simply had to put this right, especially given that a whole new generation has discovered Ned’s music for the first time.
Widely acknowledged as one of the most fantastically gifted musicians of his generation, Ned is a classically trained virtuoso guitarist and studio wizard. Ned has always stayed true to the groove that moves him, which sets him apart from many of his contemporaries and these special gigs will present Ned at his most pure and pared back. Acoustic and solo, really letting the songs and his craft breathe.
Given he wants an adventure, we’ve chosen interesting venues in each city, as well as simpatico partners to help us put on a party in each venue, celebrating Ned and his music.
Over the last year we’ve worked closely with Ned in order to make this possible. We’ve also worked with some of our favourite people to help bring each city to bear. Everyone we approached couldn’t have been more excited to be a part of this special tour because Ned is a hero to many. Special mention to our friend in Long Beach, California – Scotty Coats – for kindly hooking us up with Ned. And to Pete Fowler for the wonderful artwork you see above. Limited edition prints will be available at each show along with a limited amount of copies of our Hard Candy and Prone reissues.’
