New Exhibition – Zane Cunningham

Zane Cunningham, like most great night-life photographers, started out taking pictures whilst partying and DJing with his friends. Over the last three years Zane has upped his game and developed his own instantly recognisable super-fresh, tone-perfect style.

Over the past 12 months he has documented the legendary Southern Hospitality club nights, Players Ball and Hip Hop Karaoke, and the shots that make up this exhibition are the result.

Zane’s photography has managed to capture the unique positivity, vibrancy and pure energy of the events perfectly. And being shot by Cunningham has become as much a part of these nights as doing a turn on the mic at The Social or dancing down the front with J-Bo and friends at Camp.

The exhibition is up now in the ground floor bar.  Join on Wednesday 11th January for the launch party upstairs from 6.30pm.

Based on a super tight blend of three amigos triple-teaming behind the decks The Schizodelic Sound shall make one shake thy rattle, rok ya Rolex and get on up to get on down. With much unexpected diggings alongside stone-cold classics from the most open book of musical revelry there is a sound for one and all to rejoice in!

Spear headed by DJ Guy C (Gorillaz Sound System and The Bees Tour DJ, throwing it down on the decks like a man possessed), Aaron Fletcher (The Bees main man, song writer and internationally treasured musical innovator) and Tim Rockins (Zombie Flesh Eater, mindblowing maximalist artist and graphical craftsman busting with the A to Z of sound).  It all adds up to the most ridiculously dope record box you’ve ever looked in, combined with Kaleidoscopically-psychephrenic lightshows, visuals and animated posters The Schizodelic Sound is here. Fundamentally with the  basic ideal of keeping the dance floor alive.

Cheers Ken!

The Search for the Perfect pub continues . .

Robin Turner and Paul Moody shared a pint with Ken Livingstone down the bar the other week and had a chat about pubs.

Read his thoughts and those of some other famous patrons HERE in their brilliant Guardian piece.

Robin and Paul’s book, ‘The Search for the Perfect Pub: Looking For the Moon Under Water’ is available now, it’s an excellent read and the ideal Christmas gift for that boozy uncle.

Looking For The Moon Under The Water

The Search For The Perfect Pub: Looking For The Moon Under Water

Robin Turner and Paul Moody launched their brilliant new book last week in the upstairs bar.

‘What is the perfect British pub? Although it’s an innocuous enough question, the answer will likely be entirely different dependant on the person asked and their state of mind at the time. Having turned 40 this year, my current vision of public house perfection is barely recognisable from the boozer I idly dreamt of as a twenty year old. Or as a thirty year old. I’m pretty certain that if my embattled liver holds out for the next ten, twenty – God knows, maybe even thirty – years, that mental image of the perfect pub will keep on evolving and mutating, undergoing mental refurbishments as my personal taste dictates the volume of music and what type of beer ends up flowing from the taps . . ‘
