Back in 1999, if you were a fan of real hip hop in London then Spread Love at The Social was the only place to be.  From '99 to 2004, the night played host to some of the most exciting hip hop DJs and acts from both the UK and US every other Tuesday night for no pounds and no pence.  But more importantly, Spread Love was the original residency for one of the UK's most colourful and successful DJs in recent years, and also paved the way for many other classic hip hop events at the Social, including Hip Hop Karaoke and Southern Hospitality.  Step back in time with us at The Social for a one-off reunion celebrating one of London's most innovative free hip hop events.  Expect plenty of party time hip hop, super-semi-legendary special guests and don't leave home without your backpack.

CHEATAHS live

THE LIGHT SLEEPERS live

CELESTIAL BODIES live (ex semifinalists)

+ djs Young and Lost Club plus more TBC.

Launch party for debut single from Cheatahs - CHEATAHS is a lo-fi noise-pop solo project (from Nathan of Little Death).  Recorded at home and by himself, Nathan's songs evoke the sensibilities of punk rock experimentation and deviation but are firmly rooted in traditional pop structures.  Skate-punk nihilism and introverted obsession are underlining themes in his often self-deprecating lyrics and an adolescent "dungeons and dragons" undertone helps keep everything from becoming too serious.

SOUND NUTRITION NO.2

Date: Tuesday 7th July

Doors: 6PM-12AM

Cost: £FREE

Following from the humble Drum and Bass and Funk night at GSMD Student Union bar last year, this is a quiet night of acoustic and electronically-produced sound. There is a strong Indian Classical influence this time, with musicians from all over London.  MAYA HANDS is a musician, performer, workshop leader and DJ (EOdub). Classically trained in Tabla, she has been fusing Indian classical rhythmic forms with different sounds and genres, collaborating with emerging musicians and genres since 2003.  TINY TEMPERS is a collective of musicians who have collided into each other whilst living, studying and working in London. Their influence crosses continents and tonight their set will reflect their current tastes.  AU/RA has been created to explore the relationship between pre-recorded sound and live musicians in performance. The musical content and structure of Au/Ra is derived from the Golden Section, a naturally occurring ratio said to produce beauty and is the aesthetic blueprint of sunflowers.  Doors 7pm, free entry

In the process they have created a musical soundtrack and formula that is guaranteed to rock any dancefloor. Playing alongside regular top guests like Andrew Weatherall, Greg Wilson, JD Twitch, Pete Herbert and Chris Duckenfield has further enhanced the Autodisco trademark. And on the back of their legendary nights in Dundee their profile has now grown to the extent that they have played in the Rizla Arena at Rockness Festival two years in a row alongside such DJ luminaries as the aforementioned Greg Wilson, Graeme Park, Harri, Maurice Fulton, The Revenge and Jazzy B amongst others, and this year they will be taking their sounds to Glastonbury for the Stonebridge Bar. The band's mainman -  Willy Vlautin - is in town for just one night to perform an exclusive set and sign your records. We then have a host of *very special guests*, surprises, presents and DJs to turn the place upside down till the wee wee hours.

Twice Uncut's Album of the Month, and described by the Independent as "Dylan of the dislocated", the Richmond Fontaine remain close to the hearts of fans and critics alike. Willy's own writing is published by Faber, and his first novel The Motel Life is currently being made into a motion picture. In You Can Move Back Here, Vlautin deploys his talent for lyrical minimalism that has drawn comparison to the short stories of Raymond Carver.
