Downstairs FRIDAY NIGHT BREAD is Breakin Bread's intimate monthly DJ session in the West End. These guys have been running block parties all over London for almost 12 years and they certainly know what they're doing with the funky stuff! Expect all styles of funk from old school to new school hip hop, disco to dubstep, latin to soul, cut and paste beats to the rarest funk 45s as well as enough of the cheesy classics to keep the non believers happy. Every now and again they host special parties with live bands and guest DJ's flown in from over the world. On the DJ tip Skeg is the resident host and is joined on rotation by Jazzman Gerald, Fryer, Steve The Sleeve, Nealy Wheely (Urban Allstars), Para and Baila.

Downstairs AUTODISCO is Dicky Trisco & iamelectron and they head south once again for their monthly night at The Social. The boys will be serving up their unique fusion of disco, house, electrofunk, bespoke edits, nu synth stuff and plenty of Balearic gems. The Times recently wrote that “Autodisco is at the tip of the UK’s disco scene…” and placed their night alongside HMD, Disco Bloodbath and El Diablo’s as one of the countries main players. With their popular club night, their busy booking schedule and their ever expanding stable of record labels, the Autodisco DJs have world domination firmly in their sights.  They are now joined by ADRIAN COGGER as London resident.

For the start of 2010, DIMBLEBY & CAPPER bring their unique, cold and startling beats to celebrate their new single being released. WE AERONAUTS opened up at Green Man Festival 09 and will warm the cockles of your heart with multi-instrumental goodness, while DUTCH UNCLES are a tip for 2010 thanks to their jaggering, big guitar pop tunes. Hosted by HOLESTAR (Hot Mess/NYC Downlow) and DJ TOM OKE (Edit), Lets Get Quizzical is a pop quiz blurring into a disco ho down.  A heady combination of a traditional pub quiz and club night, mixed with a dash of the ridiculous. Questions about pop culture, films, gossip and music replace typical sport and history rounds. Downstairs we kick off the new year by welcoming FUTURE DISCO to The Social basement. Sean Brosnan & Dom Chung are the men behind the 2 killer compilation releases, pulling together some of the best new music from the likes of Tensnake, Faze Action, Friendly Fires & James Yuill. The second Future Disco instalment  was recently named dance compilation of the year by itunes, and parties are planned across Europe in the coming months.  Aside from this Sean recently launched his Needwant label, starting with releases from Fromage & The Revenge, whilst Dom can be found most weekends spinning at parties from London to the Lebanon via Leeds !  Tirk Records & Social residents MATTY J & BEN TERRY are again at the helm to keep the disco quality high throughout 2010. 

 

Upstairs The Social’s very own HEAVENLY JUKEBOX (in this instance Carl and Danny) will be playing everything from rock n roll, soul + reggae, through to pop gems, house classics, disco bit and bobs and all sorts of other stuff to sound track you drinking in a booth or dancing on table.  Doors 6pm-1am, free entry.
