The monthly block party down at The Social when the Breakin Bread Crew take over for a night of soul, funk, latin, hip hop and general beats led mayhem. These boys have been rocking London for over 10 years and they now run their own record label, distribution, radio shows and their legendary club nights. This is their monthly intimate party in the West End and resident DJ Skeg will be joined on rotation by guests including Para and Baila (Breakin Bread), Nealy Wealy (Urban Allstars), Jazzman Gerald, Virgil Sparo Howe (The Killer Meters) and Steeve The Sleeve (Breakin Bread).  Doors 6pm, free entry

As part of The Social’s 10 year celebrations we welcome JON CARTER to the basement for a unique Heavenly influenced set.  This is a rare chance to catch a DJ who has played at some of the world biggest clubs in such an intimate setting, and for free!  Jon first rose to prominence in the early nineties as a resident at the era defining Heavenly Social and its sister club The Heavenly Jukebox.  Jon rocked the weekly sessions alongside Andrew Weatherall & Death in Vegas, and also took the reigns for the second ‘Live At The Social compilation’ CD whilst touring with The Prodigy!  Chart Success followed with Jon’s Monkey Mafia outfit, as did tour support slots with Massive Attack, Reprazent & The Chemical Brothers. In addition to this, DJ gigs across the globe have continued over the last few years with regular slots at Basics, Underwater & Fabric. 

Supporting Jon is one of Birmingham’s finest selectors ROB J. Rob has a vast record collection and a huge raft experience as a DJ. He currently runs ace Midlands party ‘Dropout Boogie’ with fellow DJ/Promoter Mark E.  We’re very happy to welcome Rob to the basement to set the tone for the evening.  As ever, Blaze of Glory residents MATTY J & BEN TERRY will be on hand to get the party started right and blow up the birthday balloons.  Doors 6pm, free entry

SONIC CATHEDRAL with YETI LANE, LE VOLUME COURBE, PROJECT SKYWARD. 

YETI LANE - One of the first UK shows from the Parisian three-piece formed from the ashes of cult space-rockers Cyann & Ben. They say they meld “tribal beats, krautrock synths and hypnotic guitars”, which to us means they sound like Can circa ‘Ege Bamyasi’, Pavement circa ‘Terror Twilight’ and New Order circa ‘Low-Life’, but to them means they sound like “Syd Barrett, Kraftwerk and The Flaming Lips”. Either way, we’re not arguing. They’re incredible. That’s why we’re releasing their debut single ‘Lonesome George’ on Sonic Cathedral Recordings on October 5 and their self-titled album next January.  LE VOLUME COURBE - Le Volume Courbe is the unique project of Charlotte Marionneau, who recorded her weird and wonderful debut album ‘I Killed My Best Friend’ with a host of special guests, including David Roback and Hope Sandoval (Mazzy Star), Kevin Shields (My Bloody Valentine), Andrew Innes (Primal Scream) and Tim Holmes (Death In Vegas). PROJECT SKYWARD -Solo show of ethereal electronica from Brooklyn-based artist Ryan Skyward.
