Flying Mojito Bros Live with Very Special Guest Bill Brewster

Cosmic-Americana-disco frontiersmen the Flying Mojito Bros continue their run of ‘different disco’ shows at The Social, this time with very special guest DJ Bill Brewster on Sat May 5th! 

Former Fabric resident Bill, who literally wrote the definitive book on DJing (‘Last Night A DJ Saved My Life’, with Low Life parties partner Frank Broughton), is a much cherished DJ whose wide-ranging selections never fail to put smiles on faces — and keep ’em there — all night long. Bona fide legend!

FMB’s good amigos Eastern Front Soundsystem will open proceedings on the night.

Former World Snooker Champion Steve Davis is coming to the Social basement for the first of a new series of irregular parties alongside his DJ partner Kavus Torabi (Gong / Cardiacs / Knifeworld) . . 

Together since their first surprise appearances at Bloc and Glastonbury back in 2016 they have travelled up and down the country playing some the best underground clubs and festivals. They bring a unique and totally banging prog-disco-electronic-psych-rock-techno-party everywhere they go.

We’re delighted to now be their occasional London home for 2018!

New Exhibition: Frances Castle (Clay Pipe Music)

A display of cover artwork from the label Clay Pipe Music, by illustrator Frances Castle.

Clay Pipe Music, is a London based record label run by illustrator and designer Frances Castle. From the 9th April she will be displaying artwork from the label in the bar at the Heavenly Social. Clay Pipe specialises in releasing beautifully packaged vinyl LPs of atmospheric instrumental music, with a strong theme or sense of place. Newest release is ‘Galactic Sounds’ a space inspired LP of vintage Farfisa based melodies from Swedish musician and artist Retep Folo.

Trojan – This Saturday – 2nd Birthday!

St. Patrick’s Day – Saturday 17th March 2018’s edition of Trojan Records official club night (brought to you by The London International Ska Festival) sees a triple celebration . .

It’s the official warm up for The London Intl Ska Festival 2018 / 30th anniversary (29 Mar-1 April); it’s the club nights 2nd birthday and it’s St. Patrick’s Day!

It stars guest DJ Eddie Piller of Acid Jazz fame and your host Mistah Brown (Tighten Up!) spinning 100% rare and classic Trojan sounds!

Since its launch in the summer of 1968, Trojan Records has continually led the way in presenting the very best in classic Jamaican music to fans the world over. During its early days, the company was instrumental introducing reggae into the mainstream, enjoying no less than 36 majo r UK hits between 1969 and 1975 and in so doing introducing the likes of Ken Boothe, Bob & Marcia, John Holt, Jimmy Cliff, and The Maytals to a global audience.

Now celebrating its 50th anniversary, Trojan Records continues its long-standing tradition of presenting only the very best in vintage ska, rock steady and reggae sounds for your musical pleasure!

Now, teaming up with the world-famous London Intl Ska Festival, the Trojan Records official club night hits London’s west end on the second Saturday of every month! What’s more entry is FREE for all!

Alt-Classic Album Playbacks come to The Social

We’re very happy to welcome Alt-Classic Album Playbacks to The Social – the first event is March 17th and it features My Bloody Valentine’s ‘Loveless’ in full 

Are you tired of listening to music on playlists and shuffle and would rather experience it the way it was intended? For free! Whilst drinking beer with mates, in a great bar? Ok then . .

Come along and celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with a classic album by one of Ireland’s most iconic bands – My Bloody Valentine. This unique vinyl listening event gives you the chance to hear the iconic shoegaze album ‘Loveless’ all the way through.

Audience members will also have the opportunity to win free vinyl!

As usual, the album playback will be preceded by a handful of songs by artists that inspired My Bloody Valentine.

We’re now inviting some top selectors every week to play records in the upstairs bar

Head down each week and find some of London’s best DJs and music lovers laying down nothing but good music. No dancefloor pressure, no genre, just great records. 

Featuring ANNE FRANKENSTEIN (March 8) and her collection of sublime vinyl, ROUGH TRADE DJs  (March 22) Sid and Phil showing us all the best new cuts from the legendary record shop, BUGGED OUT’S LITTLE BUGGER (March 1) mixing everything from techno to rnb and original Social crew GOOD BLOCK (March 15) bringing the deeper side of their club sound to The Social and more coming soon each month!
