With a snug capacity of just over 150, one of London’s few purpose-built music venues, The Social at 5 Little Portland Street provides the perfect backdrop for Paraphernalia; a return of style and culture to the London midweek clubbing scene.

London Street Soul’s Hugh Brooker – first artist to release under the Acid Jazz label – curates an upbeat set of live music and vinyl, taking in Soul, Funk, Latin, Afro-beat and Riviera and Chris Sullivan will guest by delivering a blue-note set to follow the return of trumpeter Kevin Davey who’s Miles Davis live tribute plays homage to the Ivy League theme of the evening.

Reportage photography from professional artist/photographer, Marta Corada records the night, the clothes the faces and the crowd.

The night is a showcase for the talent of British fashion design and manufacture. The opening night was supported by Joseph Cheaney & Sons, one of Britain’s leading shoemakers who will be displaying a selection of their finest loafers alongside production images from their factory.

The spirit of each night is projected in Paraphernalia’s distinctive posters; each telling a coded story of the music, style, craft and origins of each event.

Occupying the Social’s second Wednesday of each month, Paraphernalia will continue to rotate, fashion themes, photographic projection, DJs, live performance, artistic and cultural displays.
