After a year of online gathering, The Social is delighted to be able to finally announce a real life party in the basement. Time to resocialise!
Since the start of lockdown, The Social Gathering has become our coping mechanism. In that time, it’s acted as a virtual lounge bar full of mates sharing drinks on Twitter and an ever-evolving online magazine (edited into a book that came out at the end of 2020).
Now – with much excitement – The Social Gathering becomes a very special club night to mark the reopening of The Social, 5 Little Portland Street, showcasing our brand new, hugely improved basement space. New sound and lights, a new dance floor and DJ booth run by the same good people, playing the very best music.
Luke Una has been a shining light for us since spring 2020. His monthly show on Worldwide FM started at the outset of the first lockdown and became essential listening for so many people. Deep evangelical, beautiful voyages through his record collection, Luke’s selections and stories were a counterpoint to the shit going on outside. We cannot think of anyone better to join us on our first Friday back – it feels like a proper honour to have him bless the new decks. With support from his good friend Daniel Willis and our own Heavenly Jukebox. Upstairs, the maestro Pete Fowler plays all night long, bringing his now-legendary Afterwork Drinks session into the real world for the first time.
Loud disco music will play all night long. Leave bad vibes at the door. Gather here.
