Following the success of the Unearthed series, Asian Tones is back with a new open mic-social event. This time aimed at new artists/those looking for initial live experiences. For this South Asian Heritage Month special we also have performance by upcoming artists Henjila and Akso Heart. Join us to discover some new talent and expand your network, all at the cost of a cup of chai.
Henjila: Growing up in a sleepy town, Henjila has forged herself as a rising alt-pop star to watch – gaining support from outlets such as BBC Introducing and Clash Magazine. Don’t be fooled by the artist’s hyper-fem vision – with influences ranging from barbie, Disney princesses to Amy Winehouse and Lily Allen – Henjila’s writting is personal, powerful and sincere. The artist has found music to be a comforting and healing outlet for herself and hopes that her music can be that for listeners too.
Akso Heart: From alchemist to musician, having studied chemistry to PhD level the artist’s burst of creativity was a long time coming. While on a trip to Japan, Akso Heart, was created. The artist was energised to embark on his own musical journey that looks towards himself and his heritage. Greatly inspired by the UK garage scene and 90’s RnB, Akso Heart also likes to add small elements of pop/country into his sound.
