Event Details

BBC Introducing London are back, having curated another smashing lineup of new music, championed by Jess Iszatt and the team.

Common Goldfish

Drawing influences from Britpop, psychedelia and 90s electronica, the common goldfish sound boasts a nostalgic familiarity, nodding to the past while reaching for the future. The brainchild of Jonty Lovell, a Tottenham-based producer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, common goldfish combines vibrant melodies, breakbeats and funk-inspired bass lines to create infectious, optimistic grooves.
From impromptu sets in Tottenham skateparks to gigs on boats floating down the Regent’s Canal, Lovell’s instrumental versatility has echoed into experimental use of iconic London locations. Now taking the stage as a 4-piece band, the evolving live show has electrified Cloud X Festival and sold-out headline performances at Camden Assembly and Peckham Audio.

His debut 2022 single, “Feel The Fuzz”, received critical acclaim from the likes of Clash, Clout, LDN Magazine & This Song is Sick while being nominated for ‘best debut of the year’ by Joy of Violent Movement.

“Quite Extraordinary” is how Amy Lame described the recent single, Tottenham Ritzy, on the best new music programme on radio 6. With more radio support from the likes of Steve Lamacq, a national playlist add from John Kennedy at Radio X and being chosen as a BBC introducing featured artist in 2023, he’s been tipped as one to watch in 2024.

+ Saïna

North West London-based, half Japanese and half English singer-songwriter/producer Saïna (pronounced Sa-ee-na) took up the piano and guitar age 7 and started to write her own songs age 12. After attending the BRIT School and working from her bedroom studio, she writes and collaborates with others, her style influenced by Neo-Soul, alternative Rnb and Electronic sounds. She has recently begun exploring Japanese folk sounds and lyrics. Through the striking visual imagery and irony in her lyrics she explores themes of connection, vulnerability and renewal.

With a backlog of many gigs, Saïna has been recognised through live performances at venues such as XOYO, Tape London, Hootananny and Bush Hall, performing at ADE with Pastel, and supporting acts such as Bluey Robinson, INJI and Lewis Fitzgerald. She has also garnered frequent radio coverage on BBC Introducing, BBC Radio London, Balamii, Reprezent Radio and more. Her track with Jackson Homer, Movie, was selected as track of the week on BBC 1XTRA, as well as placement on editorial playlists like Fresh Finds, New Music Friday and Life Sucks.

In March 2024, Saïna reached the longlist for the Glastonbury Emerging Competition. Prior to this, she was selected for the Youth Music Fund, in support of her single, Strangers.

For her podcast, Lost in the Mix, show host Saïna invites artists and producers on to her show to gather valuable insights, tips and strategies for getting ahead in the music industry.

Following the release of her new track in June, Saïna will be launching her podcast on YouTube, running in-person interviews on camera.

Together with her best friend, Zoe Cheung, the East Asian female DJ duo, ZEE-2, sold out their headline show in London. They play an eclectic mix of House, Afro, Amapiano, Baile Funk, Garage and more.
