After a long run at the Tate Modern Counterpoint now moves central!
The Total Refreshment Centre provided a home for the young London jazz musicians when hardly anyone else was interested. It also created space for Lunch Money, a band comprised of Church Of Sound and Total Refreshment Centre insiders who use synths, drums, trombone, sax and whatever else they have to hand to make insanely dense analogue-based dance music. Their Dan ‘Danalogue/Comet Is Coming’ Levers-produced single Living3000 gives just a hint. Their takeover set at Counterpoint will reveal the full extent of their energetic powers.
Musical grounding Germane Marvel.
Counterpoint brings jazz musicians behind the turntables, asking them to apply their improv skills to a DJ set. Previous guests include Shirley Tetteh Sheila M. Maurice-Grey Cassie Kinoshi Joe Armon-Jones Kwake Bass Axel Kaner-Lidstrom Cleveland Watkiss Orphy Vibes Robinson Momoko, Emma Jean Thackray and Ben LaMar Gay.
