For the fourth edition of Swirl, two members of the Me Me Me records family, Man Power and Megan Leo, takeover Soho’s legendary basement, The Social for an all night long b2b soiree.
Best known as the man behind ‘intergalactic house’ (Resident Advisor, 2018) Man Power (Geoff Kirkwood) is as comfortable writing and presenting experimental symphonies, ambient hauntology and Audio Visual orchestral performances as Bed Wetter or delivering raucous kinetic Techno as MPX.
The Man Power project initially emerged as an anonymous 2014 project via a succession of dark, chugging remixes, culminating with a debut EP on Correspondant. Conclusions were drawn, expectations set, and boundaries imposed.
Unburdened by the need to bow to genre conventions, there’s still a common emotional core through Kirkwood’s creations that, paired with a penchant for the cinematic and absurdist, makes him stand out from other eclectically inclined peers.
Megan Leo is an emerging artist that has been making a name for herself across underground dancefloors. Hailing from Sunderland and now based in London, Leo has a discerning ear beyond her years. An innate ability to interpret mood, Leo is as comfortable playing slow-burning, chuggy grooves as she is playing more uptempo. Her sets often weave between balearic, cosmic & acid-tinged grooves to progressive house, italo, EBM, burned-out trance, post-punk & techno, all varying in intensity as she expresses the feeling and setting of the moment through her selections.
Her taste and selection ability have led to residencies at Me Me Me, Midnight People and Cafe 1001, as well as multiple appearances at the likes of Fabric, The Cause, The Social and Pikes. In September 2023, Megan Leo released her debut EP on Me Me Me records.
This will be the first time the pair have went b2b and super excited to hear what they have up their sleeves. See you there!
